Alumni Advisory Council

The Alumni Advisory Council is made up of Phi Theta Kappa alumni:
- Shirley Scarbrough, Chairman
- Pattie Van Atter
- Amanda Acquard
One member of the Alumni Advisory Council may be appointed by the Phi Theta Kappa Board of Directors. Up to three members of the Alumni Advisory Council may be appointed by the Phi Theta Kappa Executive Director. An additional member is elected each year by alumni attending the International Convention.
Council members must:
- Assist Headquarters Staff in planning and coordinating program opportunities
for alumni attending the International Convention,
- Provide advice and assistance on Society alumni issues and concerns to the Phi
Theta Kappa Headquarters staff and to the Board of Directors,
- Participate in an annual meeting of the council held at the International Convention,
- Plan and conduct the Alumni Business Meeting at the International Convention,
- Respond to written and verbal inquiries from Headquarters throughout the year,
- Possibly be called upon to facilitate local or regional initiatives tested for
possible international incorporation,
- Present program ideas that could be adopted by regional, senior institution and
community-based associations, and
- Support the Phi Theta Kappa Foundation.
Council Candidacy Requirements
To be considered for election to the Alumni Advisory Council, candidates must:
- Have completed the Alumni Advisory Council Candidate Application (available in PDF or Word Format) by March 1st.
- Provide a two-minute speech outlining an innovative idea for a possible international alumni project which could be implemented locally or regionally which fulfills the alumni mission of supporting the people, programs and priorities of Phi Theta Kappa.
